Tree Seeds

We harvest and collect seeds from trees and other plants at our own farm. These varieties are already proven producers and we only offer the best material to propagate your own nut trees from seed.

We are also a wholesale supplier of nursery quality seeds. We offer a wide variety of properly pollinated chestnut tree seeds that might otherwise be hard to find as a transplant. Our chestnut seeds are kept in cold storage.

We begin accepting seed orders in August for shipping in November/December. Some seed may still be available through the Spring.

Seed orders may be separated from plant orders to be able to ship them at optimal times. Seed orders follow the normal shipping chart. The charge will be adjusted at the time the order is shipped. Cost varies by distance and weight and volume. Different types of nuts pack very differently. The following list may be used as a guide to estimate your final charge:

1-3# chestnuts - $15.40

3-10# chestnuts - $22.95

10-15# chestnuts - $28.50

SDCHMARD

MARRON DI VAL DI SUSA CHESTNUT SEEDS (Castanea sativa)

Large, sweet, easy peeling variety from Northern Italy. Plump, rounded nuts in well filled burrs. Marron di val di Susa Chestnut ripens well in cool Northern regions despite it being a late ripener. Burrs often drop before opening, protecting seeds from predation by wildlife.

MARRON DU VAR CHESTNUT SEEDS (Castanea sativa)

An easy peeling, very sweet, French variety. Marron du Var Chestnut is late ripening and pollen sterile.

Marron Comballe Chestnut Seeds (Castanea Sativa)

French variety with medium to large, easy peeling nuts with a single kernel within a shell. Marron Camballe is a mid to late season ripening chestnut. Pollen sterile.

Marsol Chestnut Seeds (Castanea crenata x sativa)

Fairly early ripening of very large, shiny reddish brown nuts of good quality. Vigorous when young, would make a good timber tree. Resistance to blight, anthracnose, and phytopthera. Marsol Chestnut is a pollinator variety originally selected in France.

NEVADA CHESTNUT SEEDS (Castanea sativa)

Produces a medium sized nut that ripens several weeks after Colossal. Nevada Chestnut pollinates Colossal. Seed sold by the pound.

PRIMATO CHESTNUT SEEDS (European x Japanese)

Among the earliest ripening varieties. Primato Chestnut has an Italian origin. Good pollinator. Seeds sold by the pound.

PRECOCE MIGOULE CHESTNUT SEEDS (European x Japanese)

Ripens early. Very dependable producer in cool regions. Precoce Migoule Chestnut produces large seeds or nuts of good flavor on a vigorous, upright tree. Good pollinizer for Colossal and others. Blight resistant. European X Japanese hybrid.

PROLIFIC CHESTNUT SEEDS (Castnea sativa)

Heaviest yielding variety of Castanea sativa species. Very dependable cool climate variety found from a tree growing in Centralia, WA. Parent tree produced yields of 400-1200 lbs a year. This original tree lives on in the seeds or scionwood collected by Michael Dolan - the owner of Burnt Ridge Nursery. Prolific Chestnut produces medium sized nuts of average quality. Not suitable in the Eastern US where blight can be a problem.

SILVERLEAF CHESTNUT SEEDS (Castanea crenata x)

This is one of our best producers with a large, dark brown, seeds that peels very well. Silverleaf Chestnuts have a smaller tree form. Very good pollinator, starting early with early ripening. In California some of it's largest nuts have split husks, but that hasn't been a problem here in Washington. May be Japanese X European X Chinkapin. Also known as Eurobella Chestnut.

SKIOKA CHESTNUT SEEDS (Chinese x European)

Similar in tree form and overall nut quality to Layeroka, but less productive. Skioka Chestnut is a good pollinator, nuts ripening a little later with some seeds remaining in the husk. Parent of Layeroka and Skookum.

T0613 CHESTNUT SEEDS (Castanea crenata x sativa)

Fast growing, good branching habit. T0613 Chestnut is our most vigorous timber form chestnut. Productive of mid-sized nuts, our seed stock is sold by the pound.
