This plant goes by many names such as: Matrimony Vine, Goji berry, and Wolfberry. It's a Chinese shrub that grows to about 8 ft. tall with small purple/blue flowers and red fruits. The mildly sweet, edible fruits of the Goji Berry can be eaten fresh or dried.
These fruits have one of the highest level of anti-oxidants of any food plant & are extensively used in the treatment of cancers. In China, studies have documented the immune stimulating properties of the fruit. Goji Berry has been called the most nutrient-dense substance known due to its high levels of protein, B vitamins, amino acid & minerals.
Goji shrubs are sun lovers. It prefers well drained soils and is drought tolerant once established. While widely adapted, it's typically found in alkaline soils with a ph of 8. Self-fertile. Zone 5-8.
