Tree Seeds

We harvest and collect seeds from trees and other plants on our own farm. These varieties are already proven producers and we only offer the best material to propagate your own nut trees from seed. We are also a wholesale supplier of nursery quality seeds. We offer a wide variety of properly pollinated chestnut tree seeds that might otherwise be hard to find as a transplant. Our chestnut seeds are kept in cold storage.

We begin accepting seed orders in August for shipping in November/December. Some seed may still be available through the Spring.

Seed orders may be separated from plant orders to be able to ship them at optimal times. Seed orders follow the normal shipping chart. The charge will be adjusted at the time the order is shipped. Cost varies by distance and weight and volume. Different types of nuts pack very differently. The following list may be used as a guide to estimate your final charge:

1-3# chestnuts - $15.40

10-15# chestnuts - $28.50

Has the best timber form with small, easy to peel, sweet nuts. Blight susceptible. American Chestnut is the hardiest chestnut tree. Zone 4-8.

ANGELO BOITANO CHESTNUT SEEDS (Castanea sativa)

Large, flavorful, easy to peel and very sweet nut. Angelo Boitano is a selection of European Chestnut that comes from a heritage tree planted in the Tacoma area by Angelo Boiitano in the 20th century. It's a popular variety at the Pike Place market in Seattle. Zone 5-8.

BELLE EPINE CHESTNUT SEEDS (Castanea crenata x sativa)

This variety has very high quality, reddish brown nuts that are late ripening, yet do ripen sufficiently here in the Northern edge of chestnut culture. Good disease resistance and an excellent pollinator. In the North, Belle Epine Chestnut seeds come down in the husk, protecting them from jays and squirrels.

BISALTA NO. 3 CHESTNUT SEEDS (European x Japanese)

The seeds from this variety can be very large, however overbearing can result in up to 6 nuts per bur, resulting in mid sized nuts. Bisalta No. 3 Chestnut is a vigorous, productive tree with good flavored nuts. Good pollinator. Blight resistant. European X Japanese cultivar.

BOUCHE DE BETIZAC CHESTNUT SEEDS (European x Japanese)

Produces a vigorous, upright tree with large crops of big nuts that taste good and peel well. Bouche de Betizac Chestnut is a widely adapted tree, resistant to blight and phytopthora root rot. Ripens late, yet able to ripen in cooler climates. A European X Japanese selection from France. Pollen sterile. Seeds by the pound.

Very large seed nuts on this Italian variety. Bracalla Chestnut is late ripening, yet fills well in our cool climate.

This variety produces exceptionally big seeds of good quality. Very productive and popular orchard variety that is early ripening with easy peeling nuts. Colossal Chestnut tree does best in warm summer climate regions. Has survived to -28°F. Pollen sterile.
