Tree Seeds

We harvest and collect seeds from trees and other plants at our own farm. These varieties are already proven producers and we only offer the best material to propagate your own nut trees from seed.

We are also a wholesale supplier of nursery quality seeds. We offer a wide variety of properly pollinated chestnut tree seeds that might otherwise be hard to find as a transplant. Our chestnut seeds are kept in cold storage.

We begin accepting seed orders in August for shipping in November/December. Some seed may still be available through the Spring.

Seed orders may be separated from plant orders to be able to ship them at optimal times. Seed orders follow the normal shipping chart. The charge will be adjusted at the time the order is shipped. Cost varies by distance and weight and volume. Different types of nuts pack very differently. The following list may be used as a guide to estimate your final charge:

1-3# chestnuts - $15.40

3-10# chestnuts - $22.95

10-15# chestnuts - $28.50

Especially flavorful variety with medium sized nuts that have very good cracking quality. Sparrow Black Walnut trees are quick to bear, early ripening, dependable producer, hardy to -30° F. Illinois origin.

SURPRISE BLACK WALNUT SEEDS (Juglans nigra)

Highly valued wood with richly flavored, thick shelled, high protein nuts. This variety reveals a pleasant surprise when the shell is cracked open to reveal a plump nutmeat inside. Pennsylvania origin. Surprise Black Walnut seeds for planting are offered by the pound. Zone 4-8.

TIMBER BLACK WALNUT SEEDS (Juglans nigra)

This variety grows with amazing speed, once established it can grow up to 5 to 6 ft. a year. It has a beautiful upright form with timber harvest age in half the time that a seedling tree would take to reach sawlog size. Timber Black Walnut is very productive of small sized, thick shelled seed nuts. Self fertile.

ANGELO BOITANO CHESTNUT SEEDS (Castanea sativa)

Large, flavorful, easy to peel and very sweet nut. Angelo Boitano is a selection of European Chestnut that comes from a heritage tree planted in the Tacoma area by Angelo Boiitano in the 20th century. It's a popular variety at the Pike Place market in Seattle. Zone 5-8.

BELLE EPINE CHESTNUT SEEDS (Castanea crenata x sativa)

This variety has very high quality, reddish brown nuts that are late ripening, yet do ripen sufficiently here in the Northern edge of chestnut culture. Good disease resistance and an excellent pollinator. In the North, Belle Epine Chestnut seeds come down in the husk, protecting them from jays and squirrels.
