Asian Pear Trees

There is nothing like the pleasure of biting into a delicious, juicy, crunchy Asian Pear! The tree is easy to grow, has beautiful fall color and is very productive. They are quick to bear and all varieties are resistant to pear scab.

The later ripening varieties keep for a long time. Some of them that were kept in cold storage were even edible in May!

Heavy bearer of medium large, mild, and sweet yellow fruits. Keeps well. Good disease resistance (Pseudomonas & fire blight). Hybrid of Nijeseiki X Chojuro. Shinseiki Asian Pears are self fertile. Zone 4-9.

NIJISSEIKI ASIAN PEAR (Twentieth Century) (Pyrus pyrifolia)

Due to its extreme productivity, Nijisseiki Asian Pear is the most popular commercial variety. High quality, crisp, and juicy flavor. Mid-season ripening round greenish-yellow fruit. Self-fertile. Also known as Twentieth Century Asian Pear. Zone 4-9.

HOSUI ASIAN PEAR (Pyrus pyrifolia)

Sweet, crunchy golden brown medium/large fruit. Midseason ripening, best fruit quality. Susceptible to pseudomonas disease in wet climates. Prune Hosui Asian Pear trees only in summer to avoid disease problems. Zone 4-9.

TENNOSUI ASIAN PEAR (Pyrus pyrifolia)

Fruit is crisp and sweet and resists browning when cut. Tennosui Asian Pears has fruit the size and shape is typical of European pears. Cross between Tennessee European pear and Hosui Asian pear. Good disease resistance.

Has a luminous brown skinned fruit with a crisp, mildly sweet aromatic flesh. Very good quality, a heavy yielder, and good keeper. Chojuro Asian Pear trees have a nice fall color. Zone 4-9.

A cross between Nijesseiki Asian Pear and Red Bartlett. Maxie Pear produces a reddish skinned crisp, sweet, juicy and fragrant fruit. Scab resistant.
