Tree Seeds

We harvest and collect seeds from trees and other plants at our own farm. These varieties are already proven producers and we only offer the best material to propagate your own nut trees from seed.

We are also a wholesale supplier of nursery quality seeds. We offer a wide variety of properly pollinated chestnut tree seeds that might otherwise be hard to find as a transplant. Our chestnut seeds are kept in cold storage.

We begin accepting seed orders in August for shipping in November/December. Some seed may still be available through the Spring.

Seed orders may be separated from plant orders to be able to ship them at optimal times. Seed orders follow the normal shipping chart. The charge will be adjusted at the time the order is shipped. Cost varies by distance and weight and volume. Different types of nuts pack very differently. The following list may be used as a guide to estimate your final charge:

1-3# chestnuts - $15.40

3-10# chestnuts - $22.95

10-15# chestnuts - $28.50

Nebraska selection. Hays Black Walnut has a plump kernel & relatively thin shell for a black walnut. Zone 4-8

AMERICAN CHESTNUT SEEDS (Castanea dentata)

Has the best timber form with small, easy to peel, sweet nuts. Blight susceptible. American Chestnut is the hardiest chestnut tree. Zone 4-8.

BISALTA NO. 3 CHESTNUT SEEDS (European x Japanese)

The seeds from this variety can be very large, however overbearing can result in up to 6 nuts per bur, resulting in mid sized nuts. Bisalta No. 3 Chestnut is a vigorous, productive tree with good flavored nuts. Good pollinator. Blight resistant. European X Japanese cultivar.

COLOSSAL CHESTNUT SEEDS (Japanese x European)

This variety produces exceptionally big seeds of good quality. Very productive and popular orchard variety that is early ripening with easy peeling nuts. Colossal Chestnut tree does best in warm summer climate regions. Has survived to -28°F. Pollen sterile.

EUROPEAN CHESTNUT SEEDS (Castanea sativa)

Produces medium to large good quality nuts. Our European Chestnuts seeds come from highly productive parents. Large timber quality tree. Blight susceptible. Zone 5 - 8.

MARRON DI VAL DI SUSA CHESTNUT SEEDS (Castanea sativa)

Large, sweet, easy peeling variety from Northern Italy. Plump, rounded nuts in well filled burrs. Marron di val di Susa Chestnut ripens well in cool Northern regions despite it being a late ripener. Burrs often drop before opening, protecting seeds from predation by wildlife.

NEVADA CHESTNUT SEEDS (Castanea sativa)

Produces a medium sized nut that ripens several weeks after Colossal. Nevada Chestnut pollinates Colossal. Seed sold by the pound.

Among the earliest ripening varieties. Primato Chestnut has an Italian origin. Good pollinator. Seeds sold by the pound.

SILVERLEAF CHESTNUT SEEDS (Castanea crenata x)

This is one of our best producers with a large, dark brown, seeds that peels very well. Silverleaf Chestnuts have a smaller tree form. Very good pollinator, starting early with early ripening. In California some of it's largest nuts have split husks, but that hasn't been a problem here in Washington. May be Japanese X European X Chinkapin. Also known as Eurobella Chestnut.

TSUKUBA CHESTNUT SEEDS (Castanea crenata)

Midseason ripening Japanese selection with large yellow kernels and a low rate of doubles. Tsukuba Chestnut is an upright growing tree and produces a seed crop that is known for its keeping quality. Good pollinator.

WHITTEN NORTH CHESTNUT SEEDS (European x American)

Highly productive of medium-large sweet nuts with excellent flavor. Very dependable in cooler summer regions. Whitten Chestnut produces well from seed. Original trees were brought out west in a covered wagon around 1880 to Olympia, WA.

HOWARD PERSIAN/ENGLISH WALNUT SEEDS (Juglans regia)

Plump and well filled. Nutmeats have a great flavor and a light colored kernel in a well sealed easily crackable seed shell. Parent tree is compact, precocious, very high yielding, and self fruitful. Howard Persian Walnut is late leafing and blooming, making it less susceptible to late frost and blight.
