Research also indicates that the extremely high level of antioxidants in blueberries may slow the aging process and may help in preventing cancer and heart disease.

These plants are mature enough to bear fruit in a year or less. The varieties listed below ripen over a 3 1/2 month period. Simply freezing the surplus can ensure a year round supply. With our large selection of varieties, there are plants suited to most locations in the U.S. Blueberries appreciate a good mulch. You can use sawdust, compost or any other organic material. Reapply it every winter or spring. They like an acid soil high in organic matter. If your soil tends to be more alkaline and/or is lacking in organic matter, add a generous amount of peat moss.

Medium size: 2-3 years old, typically 15-30 inches, branched, multistemmed plants with dense fibrous root systems.
