Goumi bushes are medium sized, nitrogen fixing, non-invasive shrubs. They are related to Autumn Olive but produce a larger fruit. They have small, yellow, fragrant flowers in late spring followed by 3/4" long reddish-orange, tart fruits in early July. The fruit is used in jams, pies or eaten fresh off the bush.
This sun or shade tolerant shrub has dark green deciduous leaves with silvery undersides. It is generally self-fertile but cross pollination may increase yields.
Named varieties are grown from cuttings.
