June bearer, ripens just after Mary's Peak. Nice big berries are deep red with a great sweet flavor. Finnito Strawberry commemorates Chad Finn, the breeder of this variety at OSU. It's similar to Hood but firmer, keeps longer and the berries are more tolerant of extreme heat or rain.

POLLINATION/BLOOM TIME: Self-fertile. Ripens late June.
RECOMMENDED GROWING AND CARE:
Full to part sun, balanced moisture, mildly acidic soil of 6.5 - 6.8 ph. Reduce weed competition in root zone. Top dress with compost yearly, and mulch of straw or pine needles can keep berries off damp soils. June bearing. Remove old plants each 3-4 years to renew vitality of patch. Soak roots in tepid water for several hours before planting. Full to 1/2 sun, balanced moisture, prefers slightly acidic soils. Eliminate grass competition in root zone. A mulch of pine needles can keep berries off soil, improve fruit quality and keep shallow roots moist. Top dress with compost yearly; fertilize in August to help plant set many buds for following years' yield. Some growers will prune off 1st year flowers to allow plants to develop stronger root systems.
