Produces the largest and best tasting acorns of the West Coast native oaks. The California Black Oak has a dark trunk with large, sharply lobed leaves, reddish in spring, yellow in fall. Native to Northern CA. Needs sharp drainage. Will resprout if the top is killed by fire. Acorns take 2-3 years to ripen. Zone 6-9.
