Strawberry Plants

Homegrown strawberry plants are another great edible ground cover, for fresh eating or preserves. Burnt Ridge Nursery offers strawberries varieties that are reliable for the Pacific Northwest and for similar zones.

Runners can be trained to produce new daughter plants or can be trimmed to increase fruit production on a single strawberry plant. Plants should continually to be watered during the peak of summer heat, even when they stop producing. This allows everbearers to produce again later in the season and assists June bearers in productivity for the next year.

They need an acidic soil pH of 5.8-6.2 to be succesful. It is best to soak the roots in water before planting.

We offer the everbearing varieties Albion and Seascape. They will produce two or three crops throughout the growing season. However, they will stop producing during the peak of summer heat and after frost.

Our June bearing selection typically produces larger fruits and yields than the everbearing varieties during a single period in the growing season. This period may last 2-3 weeks.
