| The immature green fruit of this Japanese citrus is used like a lime and when fully ripe is yellow and used like a lemon. The juice and rind are widely used in Japan for its unique fragrance and flavor and as an ingredient in citrus flavored vinegar, miso, soy sauce, soups and soba. Fruits are 3" in diameter and are easy to peel. Leaves are also used in cooking. Among the hardiest of all citrus, allegedly to 0 F but It's a broadleaf evergreen that requires a long hot growing season to flower and ripen. So it would need to be grown as an indoor plant over winter in all but warm climate zones if what you want it to fruit. Will produce leaves for cooking in cooler locations.
