 Detailed Description
Midsummer ripening Japanese fruits that keep well.  Santa Rosa plums have large, reddish-purple skin and flesh, juicy and sweet with a hint of tartness.  Self-pollinating, hardy from Zone 5-9.

ZONE: 5-9

POLLINATION/BLOOM TIME:  Early-mid bloom, Self-pollinating.

RECOMMENDED GROWING AND CARE:

Full to 3/4 sun with balanced moisture. Reduce grass competition in root zone. Top dress with compost yearly.  Summer prune for airflow and ease of harvest. Spur bearer with fruit throughout the tree. Thinning can be important to prevent branch breakage on this small-scale tree. Also thinning helps keep tree from biennial bearing tendency.

CHILL HOURS: 250 hours below 45°F

DISEASE RESISTANCE:  Below average. Susceptible to Brown Rot, Black Knot and Bacterial Canker. 

SIZE AT MATURITY:  Dwarf - 8' x 12'| Semi Dwarf – 10-16' x 15'| Standard – 20' x 20'
