 Detailed Description

Our West Coast native dogwood,pacific dogwood seedling is the largest of all dogwoods, growing to heights of 30-50 ft. by 25 ft. wide. Large white flowers in spring have 4-8 false petals surrounding the true flowers, which are found in the yellow centers. Occasionally reblooming in early fall. Produces rosy red berries. Nice autumn foliage. Prefers shade and makes for a wonderful understory tree, white blossoms glow under dappled sunlight in the forest and shine in the moonlight. Attractive, flowering addition to a Pacific Northwest native planting. Hardy to -30°F.

POLLINATION/BLOOM TIME:  Late spring/ May, sometimes again in fall

RECOMMENDED GROWING AND CARE:

Full to 1/2 sun in hotter areas, regular balanced moisture, mildly acidic soils and good drainage and lots of organic matter. Benefits from 2-4" of mulch to drip line to conserve root moisture. DO NOT use overhead watering. Prune for shape during dry weather.

DISEASE RESISTANCE:  Below average. Susceptible to dogwood anthracnose and several other fungal diseases and pests when stressed.
