 Detailed Description

Very resistant to scab, mildew, cedar apple rust and fireblight.  Liberty Apples have attractive red fruit that is medium size, with a crisp sweet/tart flavor and is especially high in antioxidants.  Midseason ripening, very productive.  Bears annually and is a good keeper.  Self-fertile.  Early- to mid-season bloom; pollinates with Akane, Prima, William’s Pride, Spartan, and most others.  Zone 4-9.

POLLINATION/BLOOM TIME:  Early mid blooming. Self-fertile - but will produce better with another apple variety nearby.  For appropriate cross pollination click HERE

RECOMMENDED GROWING AND CARE:

Full sun, balanced moisture, reduce grass competition in root zone. Top dress with compost yearly.  Summer prune for airflow and ease of harvest. Spur bearer. Must provide branch support for fruit load. Some thinning will be necessary some years to maintain apple size. Mid-season ripening.

CHILL HOURS:  800-1000 hours below 45F                         

DISEASE RESISTANCE:  Excellent. Very resistant to scab, mildew, cedar apple rust & fireblight.

SIZE AT MATURITY:  Dwarf - 8' x 12'| Semi Dwarf – 10-16' x 15'| Standard – 20' x 20'
