 Detailed Description

A dwarf evergreen oak native to Northen California. Only reaches 5-10 feet at maturity. The Leather Oak tree has long leathery leaves and medium sized acorns traditionally eaten by native people.

ZONE: 7-10

POLLINATION/BLOOM TIME: Probably needs cross-pollination to produce acorns.

RECOMMENDED GROWING AND CARE:

Full sun, well-drained, rocky to clay-rich soils. It is very adaptable, tolerant of drought and poor soils, making it easy to care for in the home garden.

DISEASE RESISTANCE: No known issues.  Host to butterfly species and gall wasps which don't significantly harm plant.

SIZE AT MATURITY: 5-10 ft
