 Detailed Description

From the Boseong region of Korea these plants have good cold hardiness, good vigor and attractive large evergreen leaves.  Black tea (sweet tea), green tea, and white tea are all made from the new growth of the Camellia sinensis plant.  Though tea plants need some time to become established before being harvested, you can start picking some leaves after 2 or 3 years, and by 5 years, a single plant should yield enough to fill all your tea-drinking needs.

ZONE: 7-10

POLLINATION/BLOOM TIME: Self-fertile. New flush of leaves in spring and fall for harvest.  If leaves are not harvested, small single white camellia blossoms will dot the plant in fall.

RECOMMENDED GROWING AND CARE:

For sun or shade (might benefit from some afternoon shade), moist and acidic soils.

DISEASE RESISTANCE: Very good.

SIZE AT MATURITY: 4-6' x 3-5', possibly larger if unharvested.
