 Detailed Description

Red-striped, sweet and crisp dessert apple that ripens in October. King Apples can be pollinated by Northern Spy, Sweet 16, Gold Rush and Prairie Fire. Also known as Tomkins King, or King of Tomkins County.

ZONE: 5-9

POLLINATION/BLOOM TIME: Late blooming, flowering group 3. Pollen-sterile.

RECOMMENDED GROWING AND CARE:

Full sun, balanced moisture, reduce grass competition in root zone. Top dress with compost yearly. Summer prune for airflow and ease of harvest. Spur bearer.

CHILL HOURS: Medium-low: 800-1000 hours below 45F.

DISEASE RESISTANCE: Good. Fireblight susceptible.

SIZE AT MATURITY: 10-17’ x 17’
