 Detailed Description

The best flavored hardy apple. Large red fruits are crisp, juicy and sweet. Great keeper. Moderate disease resistance. Honeycrisp apples originated in Minnesota. Zone 3-8.

ZONE:  3-8

POLLINATION/BLOOM TIME:  Late blooming. Pollinated by another variety blooming at the same time.  For appropriate cross pollination click HERE

RECOMMENDED GROWING AND CARE:

Full sun, balanced moisture, reduce grass competition in root zone. Top dress with compost yearly.  Summer prune for airflow and ease of harvest. Spur bearer. May need branch support for fruit load. Fruit will not color without direct sun, but can scald in too-hot locations.  Mid-season ripening.

CHILL HOURS:  1000 - 1200 hours below 45F                    

DISEASE RESISTANCE:  Poor/moderate. Some scab and fireblight resistance; suseptible to mildew, cedar apple rust, sun scald and bitter pit.

SIZE AT MATURITY:  Dwarf - 8' x 12'| Semi Dwarf – 10-16' x 15'| Standard – 20' x 20'
