 Detailed Description

Very flavorful, crisp, and juicy. Used for fresh eating, sauce and pies. Vigorous tree. Gravenstein Apple trees are somewhat fireblight and scab resistant. Pollinators: Spartan, William’s Pride, Akane, Prima, Liberty. Zone 2-9.

ZONE:  2-9

POLLINATION/BLOOM TIME:  Early Blooming. Needs another early blooming pollinator.  Triploid - pollen sterile.  Plant with two varieties that are able to cross pollinate each other or if limited space plant with a self fertile variety.  For appropriate cross pollination click HERE

RECOMMENDED GROWING AND CARE:

Full sun, balanced moisture, reduce grass competition in root zone. Top dress with compost yearly. May need branch support for heavy fruit loads.  Summer prune for airflow and ease of harvest. Spur and partial tip bearer.  Early Season ripening.

CHILL HOURS:  700+ hours below 45F                  

DISEASE RESISTANCE:  Average. Resistant to cedar apple rust, somewhat resistant to canker, scab and mildew, suseptible to fireblight.

SIZE AT MATURITY:  Dwarf - 8' x 12'| Semi Dwarf – 10-16' x 15'| Standard – 20' x 20'
