This ancestral tree of the Redwood was thought to be extinct and known only from fossils until in 1947 a small isolated grove was discovered in a remote part of China.
Dawn Redwood trees have a nice golden color in autumn right before the leaves fall. A fast growing tree, tolerant of moist sites and polluted air. Hardy to -30° F.
