 Detailed Description

Abundant yield of large firm fruit in autumn and an additional smaller crop in early summer. Long berries with a tangy, unique and robust flavor. Widely adapted, as far north as Wisconsin, yet also grown in the South due to its heat tolerance. Root rot and yellow rust resistance. Caroline Raspberry is claimed to have the highest levels of antioxidants and other nutrients of any raspberry variety. Long canes with short laterals.

ZONE: 4-8

POLLINATION/BLOOM TIME: Spring.

RECOMMENDED GROWING AND CARE:

Full to ¾ sun, balanced and regular moisture (especially in early summer), acid to neutral soils. Reduce grass competition in root zone by applying 2-3” layer of wood chips. Apply aged manure under chips yearly. Cut out dead canes after 2nd fruiting in spring. In late spring, thin new canes to 6-8 thickest per crown, and trip them to 4-5’ or tie them to trellis.

CHILL HOURS: Low: 200-300 hours below 45F.

DISEASE RESISTANCE: Very good. Root rot and yellow rust resistance.

SIZE AT MATURITY: To 7-8’ – long canes with short laterals.
