Thought to be a cross between a raspberry, blackberry, loganberry and dewberry. No longer as popular as it once was, the boysenberry is waiting to be rediscovered. It has large, dark purple, juicy fruits that can be eaten fresh or used for culinary purposes. It does not keep as well as other berries and will do better if eaten or processed soon after harvest.
Thorny boysenberry plants usually produce larger berries and are more productive than the thornless variety. Zone 5-9.
