 Detailed Description

A natural dwarf to 12 feet, branching low from the ground. Black Beauty is a black mulberry that is easy to grow as a large shrub that can be maintained at 6-8ft. with pruning.

ZONE:  7-10

POLLINATION/BLOOM TIME:  Self-fruitful. Wind pollinated.

RECOMMENDED GROWING AND CARE:

Full to 2/3 sun, balanced moisture, reduce grass competition in root zone. Top dress with compost yearly. Will grow in wide-ranging soil conditions. Dormant prune. Spur bearer. Fruits on 2nd year wood. Mid-late season ripening.

CHILL HOURS:  400 hours below 45F                    

DISEASE RESISTANCE:  Good if summers are NOT warm and humid, West Coast and dry SW locations are best. Prone to fungal disease in humid summer regions.

SIZE AT MATURITY:  12', but can be kept at 6-8' with pruning.
