 Detailed Description

The main commercial dark sweet cherry. Considered the standard for excellence in flavor since the 1850's. Susceptible to cracking and bacterial canker in wetter climates, Bing cherry is best in hot dry regions such as Eastern Washington.

RECOMMENDED GROWING AND CARE:

Full to 3/4 sun, balanced moisture. Reduce grass competition in root zone. Top dress with compost yearly.  Summer prune for airflow and ease of harvest. Spur bearer. Cut new growth by half each year to keep tree compact. Fruits on 1 year old + wood. Early season ripening.

CHILL HOURS:  700-800 hours below 45F                           

DISEASE RESISTANCE:  Below average. Susceptible to cracking and bacterial canker in wetter climates, best in hot dry regions such as Eastern Washington.

SIZE AT MATURITY:  Dwarf - 8' x 12'| Semi Dwarf – 10-16' x 15'| Standard – 20' x 20'
