 Detailed Description

Medium to large purplish black fruit with sweet amber flesh. Beall Fig is a good California selection where it ripens 2 crops; in Western Washington it ripens one crop.

ZONE:  7-9

POLLINATION/BLOOM TIME:  Self-fertile.

RECOMMENDED GROWING AND CARE:

Full sun, warm & protected locations with balanced moisture. Reduce grass competition in root zone. Top dress with compost yearly - a heavy feeder. Needs good drainage. Dormant prune for height and ease of harvest. Spur bearer. Fruit produced on the older wood will appear in early summer and fruit on new growth will appear in early fall. Only 1 crop (usually August) in cooler areas. Figs are fully ripe when they hang down heavily from the spur, feel heavy for their size, and the throat has a slight puckering to the skin.

CHILL HOURS:  100 hours below 45F

DISEASE RESISTANCE:  Excellent.

SIZE AT MATURITY:  To 30'
