OSAGE ORANGE (Maclura pomifera)
A medium sized thorny tree that makes an impenetrable hedge. Produces a large grapefruit sized inedible fruit used to repel cockroaches. Beautiful yellow fall color. Dense flexible hardwood used in bow making. Also yields a yellow dye. Widely adapted. Zone 5-9.
