DOUGLAS FIR (Pseudosuga menziesii)
Fast growing conifer that remains the most important commercial timber grown in the Pacific Northwest. Requires a sunny location.

Tall, narrow evergreen tree with dense foliage. Effective as a fast growing windbreak or privacy screen. Zone 5-8.

GRAND FIR (Abies grandis)
Widely adapted native conifer with glossy deep green needles. Very popular in Christmas tree plantations. Seed is an important food source for birds and squirels; branches provide good cover and nesting sites for wildlife. Can achieve 200 ft. height. Zone 4-8.

A beautiful, symmetrical, tall, evergreen tree. Short, stiff blue needles & large upright cones. Used for cut boughs, lumber & very popular as Christmas trees.

Important commercial timber tree in moist lowland & coastal sites. Fairly fast growth once established. Bud worm resistant seed source. Zone 7.

WESTERN HEMLOCK (Tsuga heterophylla)
Very fast growing West Coast native evergreen, in sunny growing conditions. Shade tolerant, but slower in shade. Canopy is so dense that little can grow under it. Important construction wood. Old growth can reach a height of 200 ft. Needs acid soil with high organic matter content.

Selection of Western Red Cedar that keeps dark green coloring over winter better than average seedlings. Foliage is very dense, tree form is narrow and compact. Commonly used for hedgerows, privacy screens, windbreaks. .
